The Experience

The boat leaves Hulhumale Lakudi Jetty at 9:00 am after a brief tour briefing at 8:45 am. If you're staying in Hulhumale, pickup is arranged for 8:30 am; otherwise, you'll make your own way to the jetty by taxi or ferry from Male' City or the airport. The first stretch passes through the Dolphin Channel, where you watch for dolphins moving through the water near the boat. The route then heads to a sandbank near Himmafushi Island—a strip of sand in open water where you can swim, play beach games, and take photographs with a resort island visible in the distance.

After the sandbank, the boat moves to Himmafushi, a local island where lunch is served. You have time to walk around, sample Maldivian snacks, browse for souvenirs, and see how the community lives. The guide is there to answer questions and help you navigate the island. Soft drinks and water are available throughout the day, and a kids' pack is included for younger travelers.

The final stop is Stingray Reef, where snorkeling gear is provided and the guide helps you into the water. You'll see stingrays, moray eels, sharks, and dense coral formations with schools of fish. The guide stays with you to point out what to look for and ensure your safety. If you want underwater photos or videos captured by the crew, that's a separate purchase at $15 per person. The boat returns to the jetty around 4:00 pm. Climbing to the top deck during the journey gives you the best views of the channel and the open water.

Is this one for you?The guide speaks English, so you can follow the commentary and ask questions about what you're seeing without a language barrier. If you're staying in Hulhumale, pickup is arranged; if you're in Male' City or arriving from the airport, you'll need to reach the jetty on your own by taxi or ferry, which adds planning but keeps the tour price lower.
