The experience

The ride starts with pickup from your hotel, guesthouse or Maafushi Jetty. You'll meet your horse and guide, get fitted with a helmet, and head out along the island's beaches toward the sandbank. The first part moves through tropical coastal scenery with turquoise water views on either side. Your guide handles the route and pacing, so you focus on the ride itself.

The highlight comes when your horse walks into the shallow lagoon. The water stays shallow enough that the horse stays grounded, but deep enough to create that moment of riding through the turquoise water: the kind of thing that photographs well and stays with you. Your guide can use your phone to capture it, or you can add professional photography, video or drone footage at checkout to get shots you couldn't take yourself.

After the full hour, you return to the starting point and get a transfer back to wherever you're staying in Maafushi. The whole experience is built for all fitness levels, so prior riding experience isn't required. The pace is yours to set within the hour, and the guide is there to help with both the horse and the photo moments.

What happens if I'm not comfortable in the water?

Your horse walks into the shallow lagoon at a walk, staying in water shallow enough that the horse's feet stay on the bottom. You control your comfort level with the guide's support, and the lagoon crossing is the highlight but not a forced element: your guide adjusts to your confidence.
