Step-by-step itinerary

Explore mangroves, eco farm, and go-kart

  • Visit southernmost point of Peninsular Malaysia
  • Explore protected mangrove and wildlife
  • Tour Sri Tanjung Leisure Farm minizoo
  • Feed and interact with farm animals
  • Ride vehicle to see plantations and fruit trees
  • Enjoy 10-minute go-kart experience at Xpark Nusajaya

The experience

If you have a free day in Johor and want to move beyond the city, this tour strings together three stops that work because of how they sit in sequence. You start at Tanjung Piai, spending about 90 minutes on the mangrove boardwalk. It is very quiet, and the driver walks with you to point out the 22 mangrove species, monitor lizards, birds, and the occasional monkey. From the tip you can see the Singapore skyline across the Johor Strait and the shipping channel south to Indonesia. The mangrove itself is a Ramsar site, a natural barrier that protects inland villages from storms.

After a 45-minute drive, you reach Sri Tanjung Leisure Farm, a family-run operation since 2014. The first part is a minizoo where kids feed and interact with animals (cows, donkeys, ostriches, peacocks, tortoises, rabbits, hedgehogs, golden pheasants) with grass, corn and bread provided. The driver gives a live briefing on each animal's character and habits, something you would not get standing behind a zoo barrier. If the weather is dry, you ride a farm vehicle through the plantations to see sweet corn, pineapple, rubber tapper trees, durian, and palm oil. The driver explains the key facts about each. Seasonal fruits from the farm may be available to taste. If it rains, the vehicle tour is cancelled and the day stays focused on the minizoo.

The day ends with 10 minutes of go-kart racing at Xpark Nusajaya, a new Sunway facility with well-maintained equipment and sheltered lanes. Kids as young as 3 can ride in a family combo kart with an adult. Kids 6 and older or taller than 120cm can drive a kiddie kart at 30km/h. The operator built this in to teach kids about road safety, focus and responsibility, and to give the family a shared memory. You will need to bring socks and sport shoes for the kids. Gloves are sold on-site for RM 3 per pair. Everyone signs a liability waiver before racing.

Is this one for you?Book this tour if you have a full day free and kids between 3 and 12. The three stops are spaced so each one feels different, and the driver guide means you do not navigate or drive yourself. The go-kart finale works best for kids old enough to understand the safety lesson, though younger ones still ride and enjoy the experience with an adult.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Chinese, Malay and Cantonese.

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 11 years). Children under 3 can't be included in the booking.

What is Tanjung Piai and why does it matter?

Tanjung Piai is the southernmost point of mainland Eurasia, located in Johor. The boardwalk crosses a protected mangrove with 22 tree species and is a Ramsar site: an important habitat for migratory birds and resident wildlife including monitor lizards and the vulnerable Lesser Adjutant Stork. From the tip you see the Singapore skyline and the shipping channel to Indonesia.

Can my 3-year-old actually drive a go-kart?

Kids ages 3 to 5, or any child shorter than 120cm, ride in a family combo kart driven by an adult. Kids 6 and older or taller than 120cm can drive a kiddie kart independently at a speed limit of 30km/h. The operator designed the go-kart stop to teach kids about safety and responsibility on the road.

What happens if it rains during the tour?

If it rains, the farm vehicle tour through the plantations is cancelled because the ground becomes too muddy for access. The day stays focused on the minizoo, where kids can still feed and interact with the animals under cover.

Is lunch included in the tour?

Food and drinks are not included in the tour price. The operator recommends bringing Malaysia Ringgit notes, as many local eateries do not accept credit cards. You can ask the driver in advance about meal options and any diet restrictions, and the driver will help prepare alternatives.

Do I need to bring anything special for the go-kart racing?

Kids and adults must wear socks, sport shoes and gloves to race. The facility does not rent sport shoes for kids, so bring your own. Gloves are sold on-site for RM 3 per pair. Everyone must sign a liability waiver before playing.
