The experience

Aquaria KLCC is built around a 90-metre tunnel tank where you walk on a moving travelator while Sand Tiger sharks, stingrays and marine turtles circle overhead. The aquarium spans multiple levels of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and holds exhibits ranging from tropical Asian waters to world rainforests. A live diver feed happens during the tour (you watch the creatures respond at meal times), and the Touchpool area lets you handle live starfish and bamboo sharks.

After the aquarium, the driver takes you to four landmarks that anchor Kuala Lumpur's identity. The National Monument, designed by the architect of the Iwo Jima Memorial, overlooks the KL Lake gardens and honors soldiers from the 1950s Communist Insurgency. Sultan Abdul Samad Building, completed in 1897, stands out for its horseshoe arches, copper domes and 41.2-metre clock tower. The ground floor houses a Tourist Information Centre. Jamek Mosque, built in 1909 and the city's oldest surviving mosque, sits at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers, the birthplace of Kuala Lumpur itself, and features Mogul-inspired architecture with a 70-foot dome. Merdeka Square is where the Union Jack was lowered to mark independence from colonial rule, making it one of the country's most important heritage sites.

Your driver meets you at the hotel lobby at 10am and returns you there after the tour ends. The vehicle is air-conditioned and the driver speaks English throughout. Hotel pickup covers the city center within a 5km radius.
