Husky Dog Sledding in Riga: 3 km ride with pickup

Riga's husky ride: you steer, the dogs pull, the instructor watches.

Husky dog sledding near Riga is a 3 km ride where you control the sled while an experienced instructor guides you. The operator picks you up from St. Peter's Church in the Old Town, drives you 50 minutes to the husky base, runs through safety rules, then returns you to central Riga. The whole outing takes 2 to 3 hours. Children from age 3 are welcome.

The experience

St. Peter's Church in Riga's Old Town is where the driver meets you. From there, a 50-minute drive takes the group out to the husky base. The vehicle is air-conditioned and spacious, and the driver knows the area well. Once you arrive, the husky team is waiting. A brief safety briefing covers what you need to know before you take the reins.

The ride itself is 3 km and lasts about 10 to 15 minutes. You're not a passenger watching a demonstration. You're the one steering the sled while the dogs run. An experienced instructor rides with you and handles the technical side, but the moment belongs to you. After the ride, you head back to St. Peter's Church, arriving roughly 2 to 3 hours after pickup.
