The experience
How do you see Vientiane's essential sites without spending a full day? This tour packs the city's main landmarks into a morning or afternoon, starting with hotel pickup and a local guide who knows the stops and the timing. You visit Patouxay first (the Victory Gate built to honor Laotian soldiers), then move to That Luang Stupa, the gold-covered Buddhist monument at the city's center and Laos's most important national symbol. The stupa has stood since the 3rd century and survived multiple reconstructions, most recently in the 1930s.
From there, the route takes you to Wat Sisaket, a temple built in 1818 in Siamese style rather than Lao style, which may have saved it when Siamese armies occupied Vientiane in 1827. The temple's cloister wall holds more than 2,000 ceramic and silver Buddha images, and a museum sits on the grounds. The final stop is Talat Sao, a two-storey covered market where locals shop for ingredients and souvenirs. The market runs from 7am to 4pm daily, and depending on the hour and weather, it can be nearly empty or full to capacity: the guide times the visit to make the most of your time there. When the tour ends, the driver takes you back to your hotel.

What is That Luang Stupa and why does it matter to Laos?
That Luang Stupa is a gold-covered Buddhist monument in central Vientiane, established as early as the 3rd century AD and rebuilt several times, most recently in the 1930s. It is regarded as Laos's most important national monument and a symbol of the country.
Can I see all these sites if I only have a morning or afternoon free?
Yes. The tour runs four hours and covers Patouxay, That Luang Stupa, Wat Sisaket and Talat Sao market in a single trip, so you can fit the highlights into either a morning or afternoon depending on your schedule.
What makes Wat Sisaket different from other temples in Vientiane?
Wat Sisaket was built in 1818 in Siamese architectural style (with a surrounding terrace and ornate five-tiered roof) rather than traditional Lao style. It may be the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane and features a cloister wall with over 2,000 ceramic and silver Buddha images.
Is the guide included, and what language do they speak?
Yes, an English-speaking guide and driver are included with the tour. They handle the route and timing so you can focus on the sites.
What is Talat Sao market like, and will I have time to browse?
Talat Sao is one of Vientiane's busiest local markets, a two-storey covered space where you can find local ingredients and souvenirs. The guide builds in time to explore, and the visit fits inside the four-hour tour window.
