You'll start at Fort Jesus, where the guide gives you the history of the Portuguese fortress built in 1593 and explains why UNESCO classified it as a World Heritage site in 2011. From there, the route takes you through the Old Town's narrow streets: the kind that open onto courtyards and reveal the Swahili and Arab architecture the guide points out as you walk.
