The experience

Tsukiji Fish Market opened in 1935 and spent nearly a century as the city's primary wholesale hub for seafood, fruit and vegetables before relocating to Toyosu in 2018. What remains is the Tsukiji Outside Market, still crowded with stalls selling sushi, seafood bowls and egg rolls: a working gourmet spot where you can watch vendors move through the day. The guide walks you through it and explains how the market shaped Japan's food culture and continues to do so.

Tokyo Skytree stands 634 meters tall and serves as both a broadcasting tower and the city's most recognizable modern landmark. You ride public transit to reach it, then enter the tower itself as part of the tour. Senso-ji Temple, founded in 628 AD in the Asakusa district, is Tokyo's oldest temple and draws millions of visitors and pilgrims annually. It is dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy and compassion. The route between these three stops uses the same trains and stations a resident would, so you navigate the city the way locals do rather than following a tour bus route.

A national licensed guide meets you at your hotel and leads the group through the day in English, Spanish, French or Chinese. The tour runs four hours total, though the exact sequence of stops may shift depending on when you start. Wheelchair-accessible transportation options are available, and the route accommodates strollers and infant seats.

Yes. Ticket types: Child (2 to 11 years); Infant (under 2).

What is Senso-ji Temple and why do so many people visit it?

Senso-ji Temple, located in Asakusa, is Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in 628 AD and dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy and compassion. It draws millions of visitors and pilgrims every year and holds major historical and cultural significance in Japan.

Can I actually go inside Tokyo Skytree, or do we just see it from outside?

Tokyo Skytree entry is included in the tour, so you go inside the tower itself. At 634 meters tall, it is the tallest structure in Japan and the second tallest in the world after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

What is the Tsukiji Fish Market like now that it moved?

The original Tsukiji Market relocated to Toyosu in 2018, but the Tsukiji Outside Market remains a bustling gourmet spot in the same location. Vendors still sell fresh sushi, seafood bowls, egg rolls and produce, and it continues to reflect Japan's food history and market culture.

Do we use taxis or tour buses to get between the stops?

The tour uses public transportation (trains and city transit), so you navigate Tokyo the way locals do. This is part of what makes the experience immersive. You are not riding in a tour vehicle but moving through the city on its own transit network.
