The experience
If you have a free day in Osaka and want to see temples without the crowds of Kyoto, Nara sits close enough for a full morning and afternoon. The guide meets you, learns what you want to see, and builds the day around your picks. Todai-ji Temple holds a 15-meter tall Buddha. Yoshikien Garden contains three separate gardens (a pond garden, a moss garden and a tea ceremony garden) all within its grounds. Yakushiji Temple, one of Japan's oldest, has a strictly symmetric layout with two pagodas flanking the central axis. Nara Park itself is the draw for many: it's a grassy expanse where hundreds of deer roam freely and will bow if you bow to them first.
The private vehicle means no waiting for group departures or following a fixed schedule. You choose whether to spend more time at one temple or move through several. The guide adjusts. The route can include the former merchant district, where traditional warehouses and residential buildings are preserved, or the Nara National Museum if you want Buddhist art indoors. Eight hours gives you room to linger without rushing, and the guide speaks English throughout.
You'll need to book your vehicle size first: a regular car for two, a minivan for up to four, or a van for up to seven. After you reserve, the guide contacts you to finalize which 3–4 stops make sense for your interests. Entrance fees to temples and gardens are paid separately on the day, as is any lunch you choose along the way.

What's the deal with the deer in Nara Park?

Do I have to decide which temples to visit before I book?
No. After you make your reservation, the guide contacts you to plan the itinerary together. If you're unsure, the guide can send recommendations.
