The Experience
The tour starts with a pickup at either Osaka or Kyoto station, then heads to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a UNESCO site with 1,200 years of history. You'll walk the wooden terrace overlooking the city, then explore the narrow streets around it—Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Ishibei Alley—lined with traditional wooden shops and houses. Gion and Hanamikoji Street come next, the geisha district where the buildings and pace feel removed from modern Japan. If you want, you can rent a kimono at one of the shops here or near the temple and walk the ancient streets in it; the rental fee is separate and you can return it at a later stop.
By early afternoon you're at Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of vermillion torii gates stacked so densely they form tunnels up the mountainside. You have about 70 minutes of free time to walk the gates at your own pace, pray, and buy a small wooden ema (prayer tablet) shaped like a fox. The shrine ranks as the top tourist attraction for foreign visitors in Japan on major travel sites.
The final stop is Nara Park, where you spend about 90 minutes. The park sits at the foot of a mountain and holds Todaiji Temple, built in 752, which houses a massive bronze Buddha statue. The real draw for most visitors is the herd of deer roaming freely through the park—they're accustomed to people and will approach if you buy deer crackers (senbei) from vendors. They're smart enough to recognize the crackers in your hand and bold enough to nudge or bow for them. The park is also ringed with other temples and shrines. You return to Osaka station by around 5:30pm.

Is this one for you?Choose the Osaka 8:40am pickup if you want to maximize time at each stop and return by early evening; the Kyoto 9:50am start works if you're already in Kyoto or prefer a later departure, though the return to Osaka means a longer travel day at the end. The shared-group format with a multilingual guide suits travelers who want the route and timing decided for them, though it means moving at a group pace and sharing the bus with international visitors.

Can I choose to start from Kyoto instead of Osaka?
Yes. Pickup is available at Kyoto station at 9:50am or Osaka station at 8:40am, depending on which option you select at checkout. The tour returns to Osaka station only, regardless of where you start.
What's included in the price and what do I pay separately?
The tour includes the multilingual guide, air-conditioned bus transport, and entry to all sites. Entrance fees for Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Todaiji Temple are not included, nor is lunch. Kimono rental and deer crackers in Nara Park are also separate purchases.
How much time do you actually spend at each place?
Kiyomizu-dera Temple and the surrounding streets take about 2.5 hours. Fushimi Inari Shrine is roughly 70 minutes of free time. Nara Park, including Todaiji Temple, is about 1.5 hours. The rest of the day is travel time between sites.
Is the bus comfortable for a long day?
The bus is air-conditioned and seats a shared group of travelers from various countries, with the guide providing explanations in English, Mandarin, and Japanese. The parking area is some distance from the scenic spots, so you'll walk from the bus to each site.
What should I bring or know before the day starts?
Bring cash—some locations don't accept credit cards, especially for temple entry and deer crackers. Arrive 15 minutes early at your chosen meeting point; the guide will hold a yellow flag with the Gogoday logo. Wear comfortable shoes since you'll walk between the bus and attractions. The itinerary may shift due to traffic or weather.
