Hammer a Pattern on Your Ring Workshop in Nara
Hammer your own pattern into a ring you'll wear home from Nara.
Make a ring and hammer a one-of-a-kind pattern into it during a 60–90 minute workshop in Nara, with a craftsman guiding you through each step. You choose the material, thickness, shape and texture; the craftsman forms the ring; you hammer the pattern; the craftsman polishes it. You leave with the finished ring the same day. Engraving is available, and the workshop includes free photos of your experience.

The experience
Nara's ring workshop starts with your choices: material, width, shape and which texture pattern appeals to you. A craftsman makes the ring to your specs, then hands you a hammer. You spend the core of the session texturing the metal yourself. Each strike leaves a mark only your hands made, so no two rings are ever alike. The craftsman then polishes the finished piece while you watch, and you walk out with it in your pocket. The whole arc runs 60 to 90 minutes from design choice to done.
The setup is built for first-timers. Staff stand beside you at every step, showing you how to hold the hammer, where to strike, how much pressure shapes the pattern without damage. Solo travelers, couples, friends and families all work through the same flow at their own pace. If you want words inside the ring (an initial, a date, a Japanese character for love), the craftsman hand-engraves it after you've finished hammering. The workshop includes free photos taken on the store camera. They'll send you the files so the memory stays sharp.
Pricing varies by the ring size, material, width and finishing you pick at the start, so ask the staff about options when you arrive. Children from age 4 are welcome, and the work itself requires no special fitness or prior experience.
