The experience
You arrive in Furano or Biei and your driver meets you with a vehicle sized to your group: a regular car for up to three passengers or a van for up to eight. Before the day starts, you select which three to four sites matter most to you from the operator's list. Your driver then builds the route around those choices, so the morning might start at Furano Farm, where lavender has grown since 1958 and seven flower colors bloom together in a rainbow effect, or at Ningle Terrace, a forest shopping area of 15 log houses where you can browse handmade goods, make candles or paper crafts, or sit in the coffee shop. The driver knows the timing (early morning at the lavender fields means fewer crowds), and adjusts the day to your pace.
The stops themselves are what set this region apart. Furano Cheese Factory sits behind glass where you watch production happen, try mechanical cow milking on the second floor, and taste gelato made from local milk. Farm Tomita's gardens span acres of lupines, poppies, lilies, cosmos and sunflowers rotating through the season. You walk the grounds or ride the tracker bus used by over 300,000 visitors yearly. Furano Wine Factory, operating since 1972, lets you see fermentation in the red-brick building and taste what's available. Shikisai-no-Oka flower hill in Biei blooms from May through early October with lavender, sunflowers and poppies. You explore by foot or cart and can stop at the Ken and Mary Tree, famous from old commercials. Blue Pond appears just north of Furano, its water turned brilliant blue by minerals from upstream hot springs: most striking on early sunny mornings when the light hits the surface and the surrounding pines frame the view.
Your driver speaks English and handles the navigation. You don't arrange transport between sites or figure out which roads connect them. The six-hour window means you see the region without a full-day commitment, and because you've picked the stops beforehand, there's no time wasted deciding. Specialized car seats and booster seats are available if you're traveling with infants or small children. Contact the operator in advance if you need a rear-facing seat, as those aren't standard. If you're based in Biei or Asahikawa instead of Furano, pickup can be arranged for an additional fee. Confirm that when you book.

Is this one for you?Choose the van if your group is four or more and you want everyone traveling together with luggage space. The regular car works for couples or small families and moves more nimbly through narrow roads. Either way, you're building the day around what matters to you rather than following a fixed schedule, so if lavender fields are your priority and flower gardens are secondary, the driver adjusts the route and timing to make that work.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (6 to 11 years): free; Infant (under 6): free.
When is the best time to see the lavender fields in Furano?
Lavender blooms from mid-July to August at Furano Farm and Lavender East. The operator recommends visiting early in the morning when fewer people are there, and notes that the seven-color flower display (purple lavender, white baby's breath, orange California poppies and others) is what most visitors remember most vividly from Furano.
Can I visit Furano and Biei in one day with this tour?
Yes. The six-hour tour covers both regions. You choose three to four stops from a list that includes sites in Furano (the lavender farm, Ningle Terrace, cheese factory, wine estate, Blue Pond) and Biei (Shikisai-no-Oka flower hill), and your driver builds a route that connects them efficiently.
What's included in the price, and what do I pay separately?
The tour includes the private vehicle, your English-speaking driver, and the customized route. Entrance fees to individual attractions (the cheese factory, flower gardens, wine estate) are not included and you pay those at each stop. Lunch and any food or shopping are also separate.
How many people can fit in the vehicle?
You choose between a regular car for up to three passengers or a van for up to eight. If you're traveling with infants or small children, let the operator know when you book so they can arrange the appropriate car seats or booster seats.
What happens if I want to be picked up in Biei or Asahikawa instead of Furano?
Pickup in Biei or Asahikawa is possible but may incur an additional fee. Contact the operator in advance to discuss the arrangements and confirm the cost before booking.
Is this tour available year-round?
No. The tour operates from June through autumn. It is not available during winter months. The best time to visit is June through September, when the flower gardens are in full bloom and the landscape changes with the season.
