The experience

The route moves through Kingston's inner city and business districts, starting at the Bob Marley Museum. The home where reggae music took shape, now displaying his guitar and personal artifacts. From there you head to Devon House on Hope Road, the 19th-century mansion built by George Stiebel, the Caribbean's first Black millionaire. The grounds are free to walk. The mansion tour itself is free, and the courtyard holds several food vendors if you want to eat. The ice cream sold here is a known stop on the island.

Downtown Kingston comes next: the Jamaica National Gallery, the oldest and largest public art museum in the English-speaking Caribbean, with early, modern and contemporary work from Jamaica and smaller Caribbean and international holdings. Entry is free. Then the Kingston Craft Market, a hundred-shop complex near the waterfront where traders sell Jamaican crafts, clothing, carvings and souvenirs. The market is staffed by trained personnel and known for hospitality. The tour ends with time at the Victoria Pier waterfront, also called the Kingston Walk of Fame, where you can eat or simply watch the harbor before the drive back.

You travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with a live English-speaking guide who handles all the stops. Bottled water is provided. The whole day runs six hours. If you're based in the Ocho Rios area (St Ann/Trelawny), pickup is included. If you're in Kingston, the tour departs from there. Children from age 3 travel on this tour.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 12 years). Under 3: they can't be included in the booking.

What is the Bob Marley Museum actually like when you get there?

The Bob Marley Museum is his former home, now displaying his guitar and personal artifacts. It functions as a reggae culture tour where you see the space where the music came alive, rather than a concert venue or performance space.

Can you eat lunch during the Kingston day trip?

Lunch is not included in the tour price, but you have several chances to buy food. Devon House has multiple eateries serving Jamaican dishes and international options. The Victoria Pier waterfront at the end of the day also has food vendors.

Is entry to Devon House and the National Gallery really free?

Yes. Devon House mansion tour is free, and the Jamaica National Gallery admission is free. Both are included stops on the tour, so you pay nothing extra at either site.

What's the difference between the Kingston and Ocho Rios departure options?

The Kingston option departs from Kingston itself. The St Ann/Trelawny option (Ocho Rios area) includes hotel pickup from that region. Both visit the same four sites and follow the same route through the city.

How much walking is involved in this tour?

The tour is suitable for all fitness levels. You walk through Devon House grounds and the craft market, and spend time at the waterfront, but the guide handles transport between stops in the air-conditioned vehicle.
