The experience
How do you actually grow a pineapple? What does a banana flower look like? The farm sits five minutes up the hill from central Negril, high enough to catch the mountain breeze but close enough that you're not traveling far. The walk starts at a large almond tree at the gate and loops through the small, hilly property at an easy pace: designed so you see as many tropical plants as possible without spending hours in the sun. Your farmer host answers questions as you go, and you're free to touch and smell the leaves along the way.
The fruit tasting happens before or after the walk, depending on what suits you. The operator harvests or sources a signature plate showcasing what grows on the property: coconut, mango, avocado, ackee, breadfruit, naseberry, soursop, papaya and more. A fresh tropical juice is blended for you while you sit on the deck with views over the treetops. If you want to extend the visit, you can reserve a farm-to-table meal: Farmhouse Jerk Chicken, Ocean Fish Fry or Ital (vegan), by messaging the operator after booking.
The farm is wheelchair accessible and suitable for all fitness levels. Infants can ride in a pram or stroller, and service animals are welcome. An air-conditioned vehicle is included in the Negril pickup option. The shore excursion option departs from Montego Bay. Either way, the walk itself is designed with rest stops and shade, so you're not rushed.
