The experience
The visit starts with a walk through the vineyard itself, where the guide explains how the winery tends the vines to achieve the quality in each bottle. You move into the wine cellar next, where you see how grapes become wine: the fermentation, the aging, the decisions that shape the final product. Then comes the barrel cellar, a room carved directly into the tuff-stone bedrock during ancient Etruscan times, which sits beneath the modern winery and holds the aging wine in wood.
After the tour, you taste all four of the winery's wines (two whites and two reds), and have time to ask questions about what you've just seen. The whole experience takes about two hours. A live guide leads the group in either English or Italian, and you can book whichever language suits you at checkout.
Infants and small children can come along. Strollers are fine and infants can sit on an adult's lap during the tasting. Service animals are welcome. The walking and standing involved suit all fitness levels.
