Wakeboard and Wakesurf on Lake Como: Mastercraft Boat Charter

You ride behind the boat while the guide coaches from the helm, not from the shore.

Wakeboard and wakesurf on Lake Como with a Mastercraft boat, driver and certified instructor. You choose your sport (wakeboarding or wakesurfing), and the guide coaches you through the session while the boat moves through the lake's most scenic stretches, passing Comacina Island and Orrido di Nesso. Equipment, life jackets, water, soft drinks, spirits and prosecco are included. Lunch is at your expense.

The experience

The boat leaves with you, the instructor and the driver aboard. You'll spend one or two hours on the water practicing wakeboarding or wakesurfing, depending on which sport you choose and how much time you book. The instructor (Larry, who runs the service) coaches you through the session and adjusts the boat's speed and line tension to match your level, whether you're starting out or already riding. Between runs, the boat moves through the lake, and the guide points out the villas and landmarks that line the shore, including Comacina Island and Orrido di Nesso.

Boards in different sizes, bindings, life jackets and beach towels come with the booking. You'll have water, soft drinks, spirits and a bottle of prosecco on board. If you want to take a break and swim, the lake is there. The boat can also stop at a restaurant or pizzeria if you arrange it when you book: that meal is separate from the charter price. Life jackets fit infants aged one and over, so young children can come along, though they'll need to sit on an adult's lap during the ride.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

Can I try wakesurfing if I've never done it before?

Yes. The instructor adjusts the boat's speed and line setup for beginners and works with you throughout the session, so no prior experience is required. The guide will teach you the basics and help you progress at your own pace.

What's the difference between wakeboarding and wakesurfing?

Wakeboarding uses a board with bindings that attach your feet, similar to snowboarding, and you hold a rope handle. Wakesurfing uses a board without bindings. You ride the wave created by the boat and let go of the rope once you're up, surfing behind the boat like you would on an ocean wave.

What happens if I fall in the water?

The lake is safe for swimming, and you'll be wearing a life jacket. The boat will circle back and pick you up. A refreshing dip is optional, and the guide can help you back aboard.

Can I bring my family if they don't want to wakeboard?

Yes. Family members can ride along on the boat, enjoy the views of the lake and the villas, and swim if they'd like. Only the people actually riding the board need instruction, so others can relax on board while you practice.

How many people can fit on the boat?

You can book for up to five or eight passengers total, depending on the option you choose. That includes the people riding the board and anyone else traveling with you.
