Paddle through Venice’s hidden canals and discover the city as locals do.

A 100-minute guided kayaking tour through Venice's canals with a qualified English or Italian-speaking instructor, paddling a single or double kayak with life vest included. You explore the hidden corners of the city that only residents know, moving through the water at your own pace without the noise and crowds of the main routes. Suitable for beginners; children from age 6 can join when accompanied by an adult.

The Experience

You meet your guide at the water's edge and push off into the quieter canals—the ones the walking tours skip. A hundred minutes is enough to move past the famous landmarks and into the neighborhoods where Venetians actually live. The kayak sits low in the water, which changes what you see: the light on the palazzo facades, the way the city reflects, the sound of the water against the stone. Your guide points out the places tourists don't reach, the small bridges and the gardens hidden behind the buildings. You paddle at a pace that feels natural, not rushed, and the guide stays close enough to answer questions and make sure you're steady in the boat.

The tour runs in three versions—a quick morning run, a daytime paddle, or an evening tour when the light turns gold and the canals empty out. All three include the kayak, paddle, life vest and an instructor who knows the city's water routes the way a taxi driver knows the streets. The operator takes the environmental impact seriously: kayaking leaves no wake, no fuel, no noise. It's the way to move through Venice without adding to the strain on a fragile place. Beginners are welcome; the guides are trained to keep you comfortable whether you've paddled before or this is your first time in a kayak.

You'll need to arrange your own way to the meeting point—public transport runs close by. On certain dates, day visitors to Venice are required to pay a €5 access fee to the city; check the operator's website to see if your visit falls on one of those days and whether you qualify for an exemption.

Is this one for you?Book the daytime tour if you want the full experience of paddling through different parts of the city; choose the morning quick tour if you're fitting it into a packed day; pick the night tour if you want to see Venice when the water is calmest and the light is softest. All three cover the same hidden routes—the difference is the hour and the length of time you spend on the water.

Top questions

Can I kayak in Venice if I've never paddled before?

Yes. The tour is designed for beginners, and your guide is a qualified instructor trained to keep you safe and comfortable in the kayak from the start. The pace is steady and the guide stays with you throughout the 100 minutes.

What's the difference between the quick tour, daytime tour and night tour?

All three follow the same hidden canals with the same guide and equipment. The quick tour runs in the morning, the daytime tour gives you more of the day to explore, and the night tour lets you see Venice when the light changes and fewer boats are on the water. You choose which fits your schedule at checkout.

Do I need to bring my own life vest or paddle?

No. The kayak, paddle and life vest are all included. You bring yourself, comfortable clothes you don't mind getting wet, and shoes with grip.

Can children go on this tour?

Children from age 6 can paddle with you, but they must be accompanied by an adult in the boat or nearby. A double kayak seats two people, so a child and an adult can share one.

What makes this tour different from walking around Venice?

From the water, you see the city's architecture and layout the way Venetians do—the canals are how the city actually moves. You reach the quiet neighborhoods behind the main squares, and you move through the space without the crowds on the bridges and in the piazzas. The guide shows you the places only locals know.

Is there a meeting point I need to get to, or does the tour pick me up?

You meet the guide at the water's edge; the operator will give you the exact location when you book. Hotel pickup is not included, so you'll need to arrange your own transport to the meeting point. Public transportation stops nearby.
