Trento River Rafting for Families: Noce Rapids & Dolomites
Six people in a raft, paddles ready, the Noce River already moving beneath you
You arrive 45 minutes early for a safety briefing, then spend two hours paddling the Noce River in a six-person raft with a guide who calls the strokes. Kids aged 6–14 go in the main raft. Younger children can sit out the central section and rejoin downstream. The center provides all gear (wetsuit, helmet, life jacket, paddle), and handles the shared transfer from Dimaro, so you show up ready to paddle.

The experience
The water's already running when you arrive at the Val di Sole Rafting Centre in Dimaro. Your guide walks the group through the commands (how to paddle on call, where to brace, what happens when the current picks up), and then you're fitted into a wetsuit, helmet clipped tight, life jacket checked twice. Kids from six upward go in the raft with an adult. The center's been running family descents for thirty years, and the safety routine shows it. Everything gets disinfected after each use, wetsuits included.
The classic route runs from Monclassico to Cavizzana, about two hours on the water with the Brenta Dolomites rising on either side. The Noce is highest and most popular from May through September, when the rapids have real teeth but stay manageable for families. If the water level shifts, the center moves the route to the lower section. They know the river's moods. You paddle when the guide calls it, hold on when the current does the work, and the whole thing moves at a pace that keeps kids engaged without exhausting them.
Dimaro sits only two hours from Lake Garda, so this works as a day trip if you're based further south, or as a standalone morning if you're already in the Dolomites. The center handles the shared transfer from their location, so you don't need to arrange transport or figure out parking. Bring a t-shirt under the wetsuit, shoes that can get soaked, and a towel. They'll have hot showers waiting when you're done. The photos from the day come with the package.

Children from 6 years old can raft. Kids under 6 can join the group but sit out the middle section (about 1 km) and rejoin via the center's transport.
Do I need rafting experience?
No. The guide gives a theory lesson before you launch, explaining all commands and paddle technique. Everyone paddles on instruction.
When is the best time to go?
May through September, when the river runs at its highest level and the rapids are most active. The center can adjust the route if water levels change.
What's included in the price?
Guide, all safety gear (wetsuit, helmet, life jacket, paddle), shared round-trip transfer from Dimaro, and photos from the day.
How long does the whole activity take?
Plan for about 45 minutes before departure for briefing and gear, then two hours on the water. Total time is roughly three and a half hours.
