San Gimignano Wine Tasting Tour with Lunch and 4 Wines
Taste four wines straight from the cellar, then sit down to lunch made from what the vineyard grows
A wine tasting and lunch class at a family vineyard in San Gimignano where you taste four estate wines and a dessert wine, tour the cellar and olive orchards, and eat a three-course Tuscan meal with local cheeses, cured meats and a traditional first course. The guide explains Italian wine regulations and the property's history. Vegetarian and vegan options are available; the experience runs 2.5 hours and includes extra virgin olive oil tasting.
The Experience
The vineyard sits outside San Gimignano, and the day starts with a walk through the property itself — the guide shows you the grape varietals growing there and takes you into the wine cellar to see how the estate makes its wine. You'll hear about Italian wine regulations and the vineyard's own history before moving to the tasting room. The four wines come from the estate's own production, and you taste them alongside a dessert wine to close.
Lunch arrives between the cellar visit and the tasting: Tuscan charcuterie with local cheeses and prosciutto, a bowl of pappa al pomodoro (the traditional bread-and-tomato soup), and a slice of cake or cantucci biscuits to finish. Vegetarian and vegan versions of the charcuterie and first course are available if you request them when you book. The olive oil tasting happens during the meal, so you taste the vineyard's oil alongside the food it's meant for.
A live guide leads the whole experience in English or Italian. The pace is built for small groups, so you're not moving through a crowd. If you're traveling with infants or small children, strollers are welcome, and the vineyard has specialized infant seats available. Public transportation stops are nearby if you're coming from San Gimignano town.
