The experience

The tour starts at the Greek Theatre entrance, where your guide meets the group. From there, you walk through the town's layered history: the magnificent Greek Theatre itself, then Palazzo Corvaja, then the Odeon. A small Roman theater built in the 2nd century and not rediscovered until 1892. The second half moves through the Old Town, where the tour comes alive. You walk colorful streets lined with flowers, lemon and olive groves, pass through little corners most visitors miss, and stop at Belvedere Square along Corso Umberto to see the coast and Mt. Etna rising beyond it. Medieval monuments appear as you go: Palazzo Duchi di Santo Stefano, Porta Catania, Del Carmine Church, and the Duomo Stairs.
