Step-by-step itinerary
SUP and Canoe Excursion on Elba Island
- Briefing with guide at Club del Mare
- Depart for tour to wild coast
- Explore rocky cliffs and hidden coves
- Optional bath stop in coves
- Bathing stop at Galenzana beach
- Return to Club del Mare
The experience
You start at Club del Mare with a short briefing, then paddle out into water that opens onto rocky cliffs, hidden inlets and views toward the islands of Giglio and Montecristo. The route keeps you away from crowded beaches, moving instead through the kind of coast most visitors never see: steep rock faces dropping straight into clear water, small coves tucked between headlands. A stop partway lets you swim in one of those coves if you want to, then you continue to Galenzana itself, the wild beach that anchors the trip.
The guide decides on the day whether conditions favor Galenzana or Fonza, another beach option the operator runs. Either way, the paddle and the stops stay the same. You get a SUP or canoe, paddle, lifebuoy and all the safety gear the tour needs. A watertight bag keeps your phone and essentials dry, and a waterproof holder lets you mount it if you want photos. The whole outing runs about two and a half hours from start to return.
English and Italian guides are available on weekdays. Saturday and Sunday departures run without English-language service. Infants sit with an adult. The operator notes the trip is not suitable for people with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy, though it welcomes all fitness levels otherwise.
