You book this private tour, which starts with pickup from your Bolzano hotel and a 100-minute drive to the only location in the Dolomites where you can ride a snowmobile. A skilled pilot takes you up a 5 km snowy road to the refuge at the top, where you stop to photograph the panorama across the Dolomites. The descent is your choice: sled down or take the snowmobile shuttle back.

The return to Bolzano follows the Great Dolomites Road, the famous winter route that lets you see the landscape without driving it yourself. You stop at Falzarego Pass, then cross Gardena Pass and drive through Gardena Valley: the towns of Selva Gardena, Santa Cristina and Ortisei pass by as your guide points out the valley's place in the Dolomites. The whole day runs nine hours from pickup to drop-off.

Bring warm, waterproof shoes, gloves, a cap and sunglasses. The tour runs in all weather. Bottled water is provided. If you have a spinal injury or cardiovascular concerns, this activity is not suitable. Otherwise it works for any fitness level. Specialized infant seats are available if you're traveling with small children.
