The experience
You arrive in Positano with a free afternoon or a morning to spare, and the water is calling. A private yacht picks you up and heads straight for Capri Island, skipping the crowded tour boats and the harbour queues. Over seven to eight hours, you'll stop at four grottoes that most day-trippers never see: the White Grotto, where a stalagmite catches the light like a statue; the Faraglioni rocks with their famous tunnel; Marina Piccola, the bay where celebrity yachts anchor and locals swim in the caves beyond the crowds; and the Green Grotto, where the water turns emerald and stays that way. At each stop you slip into the water with a snorkel kit already on board, no rental desk, no waiting.
Between swims, the yacht anchors and you settle in. Prosecco, local Caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and cherry tomatoes, snacks and cold water appear. A live guide in English narrates the route, the grottoes and the history as you sail, so you understand what you're looking at without hunting for information. The commentary runs the whole day, not just at stops.
The boat is comfortable and stays small. Just your group, no strangers. Towels and snorkel equipment are included, so you pack light. Fuel, insurance and all beverages are built into the price. The only extra is the €100 mooring fee if you decide to dock in Capri Harbour itself rather than anchor offshore.

Top questions
Can I snorkel if I've never done it before?
Yes. Snorkel kits are provided on board and the guide will show you how to use them. The water at each stop is calm and clear, and you enter from the boat at your own pace.
What exactly is the Green Grotto and why is it special?
The Green Grotto is a sea cave on Capri known for water so clear and clean that it reflects an emerald green color. It's the guide's favorite stop for snorkeling because the visibility and water quality stay excellent throughout the day.
Is lunch included, or do I need to bring food?
Lunch is not included in the tour price. Snacks and beverages (prosecco, water, Caprese salad and appetizers) are provided, but if you want a full meal, you can arrange it separately or eat at a restaurant on the Amalfi Coast before or after the tour.
How long is the boat ride from Positano to Capri?
The full tour runs seven to eight hours total. That includes travel time to Capri, time at each of the four grottoes for swimming and snorkeling, and the return to Positano, plus the happy hour with snacks and drinks on board.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
The tour operates in most conditions since you're on a comfortable yacht, but if sea conditions become unsafe, the operator will reschedule or offer a full refund. Check the weather forecast the day before and confirm with the operator if you have concerns.
Do I need to bring my own snorkel gear?
No. Snorkel kits and towels are included on board, so you don't need to pack or rent them separately. Bring a swimsuit, sunscreen and a light cover-up. Everything else is provided.
