The experience

The walk starts in the historic center and moves through Siena on foot with a guide who knows the city's layers: the history of the Palio, the stories of the Piccolomini and Tolomei families, the pilgrimage traditions that shaped the town. You'll stand in Piazza del Campo, the true heart of Siena, where the Gaia Fountain sits covered in white marble, and you'll see the Palazzo Pubblico, built to represent the Republic of Siena and now the city hall. The Mangia Tower, one of Italy's oldest civic towers, rises from the same square.

The Cathedral itself holds the real draw. Inside are works by Nicola Pisano, Duccio di Buoninsegna, Donatello and Gianlorenzo Bernini.
