Four mountain passes without removing your skis

The Sellaronda is a ski tour of four Dolomite passes circling the Sella Massif, done in a single day from Cortina d'Ampezzo through Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and Arabba. A local guide chooses the clockwise or counterclockwise route based on snow conditions. Round-trip private transfer, a professional photographer and guide services in English, Spanish, Italian or French are included. Lunch and skipass are separate.

The experience

The Sellaronda loop is built around one idea: ski from valley to valley around a single massif without taking off your skis. You start in Cortina d'Ampezzo and work through four Ladin valleys (Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and Arabba) each one connected by a pass. A local guide reads the snow and decides whether to run the route clockwise or counterclockwise, which changes which faces you ski and when you hit the steeper terrain. The guide handles the navigation. You handle the skiing.

The day runs about six hours on skis, and the private transfer gets you to the start and back to Cortina at the end. A professional photographer guide travels with the group to capture the run, so you get images of yourself against the Dolomite backdrop without stopping to pose. The guide speaks your language (English, Spanish, Italian or French), and knows the area well enough to show you the lines that work best on the day you're there.

You'll need your own skipass for the lifts and your own lunch plan. Neither is included. The tour suits skiers of any fitness level who can handle a full day on skis and want to see four valleys without the logistics of figuring out which lift to take next.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Italian.

What does the Sellaronda route actually cover in a day?

The Sellaronda circles the Sella Massif by skiing through Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and Arabba, each valley connected by a pass. You ski from one to the next without removing your skis, and the route can run clockwise or counterclockwise depending on snow conditions that day.

Do I need to arrange my own skipass, or is it included?

You arrange and pay for your own skipass separately. The tour includes the guide, the transfer and the photographer. The lift tickets are your responsibility.

How does the guide decide which direction to ski the loop?

The local guide checks the snow conditions on the morning of the tour and chooses clockwise or counterclockwise based on which direction offers the best skiing that day. This means the route adapts to what's actually on the mountain, not a fixed itinerary.

Is lunch included, or do I need to bring my own food?

Lunch is not included. You can stop at a rifugio (mountain hut) along the route to eat, or bring your own food to eat on the go.

Does the photographer guide stay with us the whole time, or just part of the day?

A professional photographer guide travels with the group throughout the tour to capture images of you skiing against the Dolomite scenery, so you get photos without stopping to set them up yourself.
