The experience

The boat leaves San Vito Lo Capo and heads toward the Zingaro nature reserve, passing the beach of San Vito Lo Capo itself (one of Italy's clearest stretches of water), and the tonnara del Secco, an old tuna-fishing building that marks the shift from modern coast to protected reserve. The small size of the boat (10 meters, never more than 12 people) is what makes the next part possible: you stop at coves and shallow beaches where big tour boats must stay offshore. Near the Cave of Lovers, you'll find a small beach tucked inside a sea cave, a spot only accessible this way, and the water is clear enough to snorkel right there, mask and fins provided.

The route continues to Cala del Leone, another bathing stop with transparent water, then to Scopello's old tuna fishery (La Tonnara di Scopello), a dramatic inlet where tall rock stacks called Faraglioni rise from the sea. The seabed here is rich with detail, the reason snorkelers come, and you get time in the water to look around. Castellammare, the final stop before lunch, sits in a curved harbor backed by a castle. The village streets are walkable and the sandy shore is gentler than the rocky coves earlier in the day.
