Step-by-step itinerary
Sailing tour with audioguide and lunch

- Listen to stories via proximity audioguide
- Sail along Coral Riviera coves and cliffs
- Swim in crystal clear waters
- Enjoy authentic Sardinian lunch on board
The experience
You arrive at the meeting point five minutes before departure and board the Cetacea, a sailing boat rigged for comfort: sunbathing deck space, two stand-up paddleboards, a tender for shallow-water access, and a floating island for the group. The skipper sets the day's route (either west toward Capo Galera and Portoconte, or south to Cala Burantino and Torre Pòglina) depending on wind and your mood. The proximity audioguides begin the moment you leave the harbor: the system recognizes where the boat sits and shows nearby landmarks on a map. Tap any point and listen to Sardinian stories, local legends and curiosities in English, Italian, French, German, Spanish or Dutch. No app to download, no earbuds to manage. Just the narration flowing as you watch the coast unfold.
Swimming happens at two or three coves, chosen by the skipper for water clarity and conditions. You get snorkelling equipment, anti-jellyfish cream before you enter the water, and a soothing cream on board if you need it. The water is shallow enough to stand in some spots, deep enough to dive in others, and the marine life (small fish, sometimes rays) stays visible in the clarity. An inflatable mattress floats on deck for sunbathing between swims, and the paddleboards are there if you want to paddle out from the boat.
Lunch arrives mid-afternoon: a first course of traditional Sardinian pasta or risotto, followed by a caprese with fresh mozzarella, all prepared on board and served on deck while you look at the cliffs. The meal is unhurried. The boat idles or drifts, and the group, usually small enough to stay relaxed, shares the table. The tour runs seven hours total, ending in late afternoon when the Cetacea returns to Alghero harbor.

Can I swim during the sailing tour, or is it just a boat ride?
Swimming is built into the day: the skipper stops at two or three coves (Cala del Rosso, Lazzaretto, Capo Galera or others depending on conditions), and you get snorkelling equipment and anti-jellyfish cream. The water is clear and shallow enough to stand in some spots.
What are the proximity audioguides, and do I need to download an app?

How many people typically sail on the Cetacea, and is it crowded?
The sailboat Cetacea is 13 meters long and carries groups small enough to stay relaxed and social. The skipper manages the passenger count to keep the atmosphere intimate and the boat comfortable.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my tour?
If wind, waves, rain or thunderstorms make sailing unsafe, the skipper can cancel the tour at their discretion and issue a full refund. The tour is built on relaxation and safety, so cancellation is the skipper's call alone.
