The experience
You spend four hours learning Italian not in a classroom but moving through Bergamo itself. The instructor takes you walking from lower Bergamo to upper Bergamo, a climb of about forty minutes, passing the Astino Monastery or the steps of the San Giacomo gate, speaking Italian the whole way. You stop at the ice cream shop where stracciatella was invented, visit Bergamo Alta on foot, climb the bell tower, browse the library, or walk through shops and a supermarket, each stop a chance to practice with the instructor and with locals who work there. The route is built around your level and what you want to learn. You're not following a fixed itinerary.
Lunch or dinner at a typical restaurant is optional. You choose at checkout whether to add it. When you do, the meal becomes part of the lesson: the instructor encourages you to order, ask questions and speak with staff. The instructor knows Bergamo deeply and shares explanations, anecdotes and details only someone from the city would know. Private transportation is included, so you're not navigating buses or taxis in a language you're still learning.
Before the day starts, you'll have a video call with the instructor to sort out the details: which stops interest you most, what your Italian level is, whether you want to eat, and what time works for your schedule. That conversation shapes the whole experience.

Top questions
Can I choose what we do during the four hours?
Yes. The instructor offers several options (walking from lower to upper Bergamo, visiting specific landmarks like the bell tower or library, shopping at local stores, or eating at a restaurant), and you pick what appeals to you. The video call before your lesson is when you decide together.
What is stracciatella ice cream, and why is the shop in Bergamo special?
Stracciatella is vanilla ice cream with thin ribbons of dark chocolate mixed through it. The flavor was invented at a shop in Bergamo, and visiting it is one of the stops your instructor can include in the lesson.
Is lunch included, or do I pay extra?
Lunch at a typical restaurant is optional. You choose at checkout whether to add it to your booking. If you do, eating becomes part of your Italian practice.
How does the instructor help me speak with locals?
The instructor takes you to places where locals work (restaurants, shops, the ice cream shop, the supermarket), and encourages you to order, ask questions and have short conversations. The instructor is there to help if you get stuck, but the goal is for you to practice real speaking.
What if I'm a complete beginner?
The instructor tailors the lesson to your level. Beginners start with simple phrases and listening. The video call before your booking lets you explain where you're starting from, and the instructor plans accordingly.
