The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel or cruise ship port, then a drive directly to Pompeii. After Pompeii, you head to a family vineyard positioned at the foot of Mount Vesuvius itself. Lunch is served there: homemade pasta made with Vesuvius tomatoes, a meat selection of the day with vegetables from their garden, salumi and cheese, and a local dessert. The wine tasting happens in the same place, so you eat and drink where the grapes grow and the volcano rises above the vines. Bottled water is provided throughout the day, and an air-conditioned minivan handles all transport between stops.

The whole experience runs eight hours. You'll need a moderate level of fitness for walking the archaeological site, and the dress code is smart casual.
