Two hours in Pompeii without the ticket queue or the traffic.

An English-speaking expert guide leads a 2-hour walk through the main monuments and famous houses of the ruins. You choose your departure time (9:30am or 10:15am) and can stay in Pompeii after the tour ends, using your return train ticket anytime before closing.
Step-by-step itinerary
Pompeii Express Guided Tour from Sorrento
- Meet assistant at Sorrento train station
- Receive return train tickets
- Board local train to Pompeii
- Tour Pompeii ruins with expert guide
- Explore main monuments and famous houses
- Return to Sorrento or stay longer
The Experience
You meet Amelia, the Belmare Travel assistant in the red shirt, at Sorrento Circumvesuviana train station by the ground-floor steps. She hands you the return train tickets and walks you to the platform. The local train takes 45 minutes to Pompeii Scavi station — no traffic, no parking, no navigating the site entrance alone. The ride is included in the price, as is entry to the archaeological site itself, so you arrive ready to walk.
Your guide, a local archaeologist, takes you through the main public monuments and the most famous houses of Pompeii for 2 hours. The roads are uneven Roman cobblestone, so wear comfortable shoes. Listening devices are provided free from Sorrento, tuned to English only, and you return them to the guide at the end. The tour covers the layout and history of the ancient town as it was 2,000 years ago — what the buildings were, who lived in them, how the city worked before Vesuvius.
When the 2-hour tour finishes, you don't have to leave. Your return train ticket is valid all day, so if you want to wander the ruins on your own, sit in the quiet corners, or photograph the houses again without a group, you can stay as long as the site is open. Just don't exit the grounds and come back in — that costs a new ticket. The last train back to Sorrento runs at the end of the day.
What’s included

- round-trip local train tickets valid all day (45 minutes each way).
- 2-hour guided tour with a live English-speaking archaeologist.
- listening devices provided and returned at the end of the tour.

Can I book this tour the day I want to go?
Yes. The Pompeii Express accepts last-minute bookings, so you can decide on the day and book online. You choose between the 9:30am or 10:15am meeting time at Sorrento station when you reserve.
What's included in the price?
The Pompeii Express includes entrance to the archaeological site, round-trip train tickets valid all day, the 2-hour guided tour with an English-speaking expert, and listening devices. Children with ID get free entry to Pompeii.
How do I get to the meeting point?
You make your own way to Sorrento Circumvesuviana train station, Piazza Giovanni Battista De Curtis, ground floor by the steps. Amelia meets you there in a red Belmare Travel shirt — don't follow other tour groups at the station, as similar tours depart from the same location.
What are the famous houses and monuments in Pompeii I'll see?
The guide takes you through the main public monuments and the most famous houses of the ruins, showing how the ancient town was laid out and how people lived before the eruption. The exact stops depend on the guide's route, but you'll cover the central areas and the best-preserved private homes.
Can I stay in Pompeii longer after the tour ends?
Yes. After the 2-hour tour, you're free to explore on your own. Your return train ticket is valid all day, so you can stay in Pompeii as long as you want before heading back to Sorrento — just don't exit the site and re-enter, as that requires a new ticket.
What should I bring to Pompeii?
Wear comfortable shoes with good grip, as the ancient Roman roads are uneven and cobbled. Bring plenty of water and sun protection, especially on hot days. If you have luggage, there's a storage facility at Pompeii Villa Dei Misteri station — ask your guide for details when you arrive.
