Naples wine tasting: Campania wines with food pairing
The wines come with the stories the Greeks and Romans left behind.
A private wine and food tasting in Naples pairing 4 or 5 regional Campania wines with traditional dishes, guided by a professional sommelier over approximately two hours. The sommelier adjusts the depth of instruction to your experience level—basic overview or advanced analysis—and can go deeper if you ask. Minimum age is 18.
The Experience
You'll meet a sommelier at the tasting venue who leads you through wines from ten Campania regions: Campi Flegrei, the slopes of Vesuvius, Irpinia, Massico, Aversa, Capri, Cilento, Costa d'Amalfi, Sannio, Ischia and Penisola Sorrentina. Each wine is paired with a traditional local dish—fried cod with pistachio sauce, risotto with smoked cheese and potatoes, bruschetta with Vesuvius tomatoes, slow-cooked marinated pork. The sommelier walks you through the terroir, the history behind each wine, and the legends passed down from the Greeks through the Romans. The tasting runs about two hours.
What sets this apart is the sommelier's training. Every guide has graduated from the European School of Sommeliers and stays current on wine evolution and food pairing—they are internationally recognized experts, not just knowledgeable hosts. They read your level from the start and pitch the commentary accordingly. A beginner gets a clear foundation in what makes these wines distinct. Someone with experience can dig into the sensory details and ask for deeper analysis. If you want to explore further, they'll go there with you.
Bottled water, the wines, snacks and dinner are all included. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and public transportation options are nearby. You need to be at least 18 to attend.
