Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is the centerpiece of the tasting, one of Tuscany's most representative wines.

A wine tasting at a Montepulciano winery where you visit the property and old cellar, then taste three wines paired with a tagliere of local cold cuts, cheese, vegetables and bruschetta with extra virgin olive oil. The experience runs about 75 minutes with a live guide in English or Italian, and includes bottled water. Children are welcome from age 12.

The Experience

Montepulciano sits on a hilltop in southern Tuscany, and the wineries here specialize in Sangiovese—the grape that defines the region's reds. This tasting starts with a walk through the property and the old cellar, which sets the context before you taste anything. The guide explains what you're about to drink and why it matters to the place.

The tasting itself pairs three wines with a tagliere—a wooden board loaded with local cold cuts (prosciutto, salame), cheese, vegetables and bruschetta brushed with the winery's own extra virgin olive oil. One of the three wines will be Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, the region's flagship. It's the wine most people come to Montepulciano to taste, and it's the one that shows you what the Sangiovese grape can do in this soil. The other two round out the picture and let you compare how the same grape tastes across different styles and ages.

The whole thing takes about 75 minutes from start to finish. You're not rushed through it, but it's not an all-afternoon commitment either. The guide is live and speaks English or Italian, so you get real explanation instead of a printed card. Bottled water comes with the tasting. The space is wheelchair accessible, and the winery welcomes children from age 12 onward.
