Step-by-step itinerary

Sunset hike and food tasting

  • Start hike in Siniscola Mountain
  • Walk mountain trails to Punta Cupeti peak
  • See ancient shepherd remains and Pinnatu
  • Enjoy Sardinian food and wine tasting
  • Stop at natural water spring on return

The Experience

You start your hike in the Siniscola mountains roughly 90 minutes before sunset, timing the ascent so you reach Punta Cupeti as light falls across the landscape. The trail climbs 45 minutes on mountain paths that follow the old shepherd routes, with panoramic stairs on the final stretch to the peak. Along the way you pass ancient remains of shepherd activity and stop at Sas Vininzolas to see the Pinnatu, the traditional old shepherd's hat left as a marker on the mountainside.

At the summit you settle in to taste Sardinian food and wine while the sun drops. The tasting includes pane carasau (shepherd's bread), local Sardinian cheese and sausages, sa pompìa (a citrus dessert unique to Siniscola), and regional wine. The peak sits high enough that the landscape stretches in all directions—the food and the view arrive together. On the descent, you stop at a natural water spring to drink fresh water the way locals do, a small moment that breaks up the walk back to the van.

The terrain is suitable for anyone with moderate fitness; the 45-minute climb is steady but not steep, and the return journey follows the same trail downhill. A live guide leads the group in your choice of English, Spanish, Italian or French, and children from age 4 can join. The full outing—hike up, tasting, and return—takes 4 to 5 hours from start to finish.
