Lucca's wine country sits on rolling hills where small certified organic wineries still operate as family businesses. This tour takes you to two of them in a private vehicle, and Simone—ranked third at Italy's national sommelier competition three times over—handles both the driving and the tasting notes. He'll walk you through the vineyards first, explaining the vines and what makes this province's denominations distinct, then move into the cellar where the wines are stored. At each winery you taste 4 to 6 wines depending on what that cellar produces, paired with bruschetta, cold cuts, cheese, fresh bread and focaccia. The whole day runs 4 to 5 hours.

Transport is included: a 7-seater SUV for groups up to 6 guests, a 9-seater van for 7 or 8, or a coach with a professional driver for larger parties. Pickup happens within Lucca's center at no extra cost; if you're staying more than 15 km away, a surcharge applies based on the distance, which Simone will quote before the tour. Fresh water is served at both cellars. The light lunch option adds a full meal to the tastings, so you're eating and drinking for the whole afternoon rather than tasting alone.

Simone speaks English and Italian, and children from age 2 can join. The tour isn't recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with cardiovascular concerns, but it suits all other fitness levels. Tipping is optional and at your discretion.
