The experience
You pick up a Vespa or Over Brera scooter in mint condition at Peschiera del Garda, helmet and smartphone holder already fitted. The DGtalguide app loads onto your phone and becomes your navigator for the day. It marks the route, tells you where to stop, and explains what you're looking at. Fuel is included, as are unlimited kilometers, so you're not watching the tank or the odometer. The route itself is the point: it's designed to show you both shores of Lake Garda without the traffic jams that trap car drivers, and to land you at viewpoints and villages most visitors never find.
The day unfolds in stops. You'll ride to a secret terrace above the water where the view opens across the lake, then down to Limone sul Garda to see the old limonayas: ancient stone greenhouses where lemon trees once grew in terraced rows. From there you board a ferry to Malcesine, riding the boat itself as a vantage point for photos. On the western shore, the route climbs into the mountains above Tremosine, where the road is famous enough that car drivers struggle to reach it but a scooter can stop anywhere. A table is waiting for you at a trattoria there. You'll pass through a small village ranked among Italy's most beautiful, taste local cheese at a partner shop in the alpine dairy region, and end in Malcesine, the postcard town with the fortress. Ferry tickets cost 20% less when you book through the tour, and the same discount applies at every partner shop and restaurant where a table has been reserved in your name.
Scooter or motorbike riding experience is required. This is not a guided lesson. EU citizens can ride a 125cc scooter with a regular car license (category B). Others need a motorcycle license (category A or A1) or an international category B license. The pace is yours to set. The app tells you where to go, but you choose when to stop, how long to linger, and whether to take the optional detours. Lunch at a local family-run trattoria typically costs €15–€25 and is not included in the tour price, though your table is already booked.

Top questions
What does the DGtalguide app actually do while I'm riding?
The DGtalguide app navigates the route on your phone, shows you where to stop, and provides information about each location: the history of the lemon greenhouses, why the Tremosine road is famous, what to look for at each viewpoint. Your phone mounts on the scooter and charges as you ride.
Do I have to eat at the reserved restaurants, or can I choose my own?
The tour reserves tables at partner trattorias as a convenience, but you're free to eat wherever you want. The reserved tables simply mean you won't wait for a seat, and you'll get a 20% discount on the bill if you use them.
What happens if I've never ridden a scooter before?
Scooter or motorbike riding experience is absolutely required for this tour. This is not a beginner lesson or a guided ride with an instructor. You navigate and control the scooter yourself all day. If you've never ridden, you'll need to learn elsewhere first.
How much does the ferry cost, and is it included?
Ferry tickets are not included in the tour price, but you pay 20% less than the standard fare when you book through the tour. The route includes two ferry crossings: one from Limone sul Garda to Malcesine, and the return journey gives you another water-level view of the lake and the towns.
Can I stop and take photos anywhere along the route, or are there set stops?
The app marks recommended stops at viewpoints and villages, but you can pull over anywhere. The Tremosine road is specifically noted as a place where you can stop at any point in the gorge to photograph the landscape. Something difficult to do from a car but easy on a scooter.
What's included in the tour price?
The tour includes the scooter rental with helmet and phone charger, fuel, unlimited kilometers, the DGtalguide app with navigation and information, and 20% discounts at partner shops and trattorias. Personal guide, meals, ferry tickets and optional insurance are separate.
