The Experience

The day starts at your chosen pickup point — Garda, Malcesine, Torbole, Bardolino, Lazise, Limone sul Garda, Riva del Garda or Peschiera del Garda — and the bus circles the entire shoreline with stops in the towns the lake is known for. On Monday, you visit Lazise to see its castle and learn about Italy's first municipality, then Sirmione on the south shore, where sulphurous thermal springs and a medieval castle draw visitors, and Salò with its long waterfront promenade lined with shops and restaurants. Friday trips swap Salò for Limone sul Garda on the north side, a small village known for its lemon groves and lakeside character, then visit Malcesine — the town Goethe sketched in 1786 — where a castle overlooks the water from a steep hillside.

The 50-minute boat trip runs on Monday and Friday only, giving you time on the water to see the lake from a different angle. Between stops there's free time to walk, eat or sit by the water. The whole day runs nine hours, and the guide travels with the group throughout, speaking English or German depending on the departure. You'll need smart casual dress, and the bus is air-conditioned.
