Step-by-step itinerary
Boat tour along Slovenian coast
- Depart from Izola by boat
- View Piran old town and landmarks
- Cruise past Fiesa beach and lakes
- Admire Strunjan cliffs from the sea
- Stop at White Rocks for swimming
- Return to Izola by boat
The experience
The boat leaves Izola and heads toward Piran, where you see the old town from the water: red rooftops, narrow streets, the bell tower of St. George's Church rising above the coastline, and Tartini Square ringed by Venetian-style buildings. The lighthouse marks the peninsula's tip. From the boat, the angle is what you cannot get on foot: the full height of the town walls on the hill and the way the architecture stacks down to the harbor.
Continuing along the coast, the Strunjan cliffs appear: 80 meters high, the tallest on the Adriatic, covered in Mediterranean vegetation and dropping straight into the sea. You pass Fiesa beach, a small bay with calm water and two inland lakes visible from the water. Then comes the stop at White Rocks, a natural limestone formation with clear water where you swim, float or photograph the pale rock against the blue sea. The boat stays anchored while you're in the water.
The return to Izola follows the same coastline, giving you a second look at what you passed on the way out. The guide is with you throughout and speaks English. Bottled water and alcoholic drinks are included.
