The experience
You arrive at an intimate, historic home and spend the afternoon or evening with your hands in the dough. The class walks you through making tortelli and malfatti, two traditional first courses, and then moves to tiramisù, the layered dessert that defines the region. A live guide leads the instruction in your choice of English, Spanish or Italian, and you work at your own pace through each recipe. Before you book, you contact the instructor to say which dishes appeal to you most, so the session is built around what you actually want to learn.
Once the cooking is done, you sit down to eat. The meal includes the pasta and tiramisù you made, served with water, coffee and a shared bottle of wine for every two people. Vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan versions of the dishes are available if you need them. Just mention it when you arrange the class.
The class runs 3.5 hours total. Children from age one are welcome, and if you're traveling with an infant, specialized seats are available. Public transportation options are nearby if you don't have your own transport to the home.
