The experience

The day starts with a stop in Montefioralle, a small village in the Chianti hills where your driver gives you some context before you move on. The real work happens at the first winery, where the staff walk you through their vineyards and explain how they make their wines. You'll taste a selection that includes Chianti Classico Vintage, Chianti Classico Riserva, and Super Tuscany, along with white sauvignon and rosé wines made from syrah grapes. Tuscan bread, cold cuts, Parmesan, and Pecorino cheese come with the tasting.

From there you drive to San Gimignano, the medieval town famous for the 13 towers that rise from its center. You get 40 minutes to walk around on your own: enough time to see the towers, wander the narrow streets, and get a feel for the place without being rushed. Then it's a short drive to a second farmhouse winery, one that dates back to the Middle Ages, where you sit down for lunch. The meal is light but deliberate: bruschetta and other Tuscan appetizers, local cheeses and cured meats, cantuccini biscuits for dessert, and a tasting of Tuscan wines and oils. The whole experience runs about six and a half hours from pickup to drop-off.
