Ride the hills, taste what grows there

An e-bike ride through the Modena hills combines vineyard cycling with a guided tasting of 6 Lambrusco wines at a small family winery. You pedal through the territory that produces these wines, then sit down in the cellar to taste them with commentary on what makes each one distinct. The experience is designed around local authenticity, not tourist circuits.

The experience

Three hours on an e-bike takes you through the vineyards and rolling hills where Lambrusco grows. The bike does the heavy lifting on climbs, so you stay focused on the landscape and the vines around you rather than the effort. A guide leads the route and explains what you're riding past: the soil, the grape varieties, why this corner of Emilia matters to the winemakers who've worked here for generations.

The winery is family-run and sits outside the main tourist routes. Once you arrive, the tasting unfolds in the cellar itself: six different Lambrusco wines, each one selected to show you a different side of what the region produces. The guide walks you through them, connecting what you tasted in the landscape to what's in the glass. Helmet, water and the bike are all included. The guide speaks English or Italian.

What’s included

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Italian.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

How difficult is the e-bike ride through the Modena hills?

The e-bike handles the steep sections, so the ride suits all fitness levels. You control the pedal-assist, which means you set the effort. The bike carries you up the climbs without leaving you exhausted before the tasting.

What are Lambrusco wines, and why are they from Modena?

Lambrusco is a sparkling red wine with low alcohol and natural sweetness, grown in the Modena hills for centuries. The soil and climate here produce the grapes that define the style. Tasting six versions shows you how different producers interpret the same territory.

Is the winery a working family business, or set up for tours?

It's a working family winery far from the tourist circuits, so you're tasting in an actual cellar where they make and store the wine. The scale is small and the operation is genuine. This is how they do business, not a venue built for groups.

What's included in the 3 hours, and what should I bring?

The e-bike, helmet, guide, bottled water and the tasting of six wines are all included. Bring comfortable clothes for cycling and closed-toe shoes. The winery provides glasses and handles the rest.
