You meet at the base camp in Domus de Maria, twenty minutes before the ride starts. The guide walks you through the quad's controls (the 450 bikes are automatic and built for off-road handling), and you'll do a mandatory test drive to make sure you're comfortable before the group departs. If you booked for two people, you and your passenger will switch driving duties partway through so both of you get real time at the handlebars. Three or more riders means you each get your own quad.

The route crosses pristine beaches, dirt paths and the southwestern promontories of Sardinia, passing the Lighthouse of Capo Spartivento (built in 1854 by the Italian Navy and now converted into a guest house), and opening onto some of the island's most photographed coastline. The guide carries bottled water and stops to point out the landscape and its history. On the three-hour option, you can swim at Chia beach (June through September only) if you bring a towel and swimsuit. The two-hour ride keeps you on the trails and viewpoints without the water stop.

Weather doesn't stop the tour. You'll ride in rain, though if a storm with lightning moves in after you've started, the guide will call it and refund your booking. Bring spare clothes if there's a chance of getting wet. A valid driver's license is mandatory to operate a quad. Photos or PDFs don't count.
