The experience

The minivan picks you up at your hotel and heads straight into the Amalfi Coast drive. Positano comes first (a vertical town of pastel buildings stacked down to the water), and you get free time to walk the narrow streets, look into boutiques, or just sit with a view. The driver knows the town and can point you toward the best spots if you ask.

From there the route follows the coast road itself, one of Europe's most photographed stretches, and stops at the Fiord of Furore for pictures. Amalfi town is next, the namesake of the coast and the place to spend time on your own. The driver will suggest restaurants for lunch if you want a recommendation, though you're eating on your own tab. Ravello sits up in the hills above the water, and you'll have free time there too to walk around and see what draws you.

The whole day runs six hours. The minivan is air-conditioned and has WiFi, and because it's private (just you and whoever you're traveling with) the driver can adjust the pace or the stops if something catches your eye. You're not following a fixed group schedule, so if Positano deserves an extra hour or you want to skip the Fiord stop, that's between you and the driver.
