The experience

The boat leaves from Como's public pier at Sant'Agostino, directly in front of the Como Lago train station, and heads toward the lake's most recognizable landmarks. You'll pass Daniel Libeskind's "Life Electric" sculpture (completed in 2015), then Villa Olmo, which rises from the water's edge, and move along the western shore past the seaplane hangar. The route takes in Cernobbio, where Villa d'Este sits on the hillside above the water, and Moltrasio, home to Versace's former villa.

The boat continues to Laglio, where George Clooney's property overlooks the lake, then crosses to Comacina Island, Lake Como's only island, where you can jump in for a swim. From there, the route heads to Nesso's ravine, famous for its Roman bridge, before returning along the eastern shore past the exclusive hotels of Torno and Blevio. Throughout the cruise, the wooden gozzo's large front sundeck and awning provide space to move around and shade during the warmest hours.
