The experience
Can you ride if you've never done it before? Yes, the stable works with beginners and advanced riders on the same trek, adjusting pace and terrain to suit. The one-hour ride moves at a leisurely pace with gentle canters optional, so you choose how much speed you want. You'll wear a helmet and half chaps, provided by the stable, and the guide leads you through woodlands, up the hills of Slieve Eva and along winding green roads into the Burren. The route is only available March to October.
The views are the draw here. From the saddle you see panoramic vistas of the Cliffs of Moher, the Connemara mountain ranges and the Aran Islands across the sea. The trek also passes famine ruins scattered through the Clare countryside, a reminder of the land's history. Groups stay small, a maximum of ten riders, so the experience doesn't feel crowded.
The stable is family-owned and has built these trails over time, so each route is unique to the region. The ride suits moderate fitness. The operator notes that riders should be reasonably fit, and there's a maximum weight of 95 kilograms for animal welfare reasons. Children are welcome from age 8 onward. Bring water if you want it: food and drinks are not included, so plan accordingly if you're riding before or after a meal.
Is this one for you?The guide speaks English and leads the group, so you follow instruction and don't navigate yourself. This suits anyone who wants to ride without worrying about route-finding, and it keeps beginners confident because someone experienced is there to adjust pace and terrain on the fly.

The trek moves at a walk and trot by default, which is the pace most riders find comfortable for an hour. Gentle canters (a faster gait, smoother than a trot) are optional. You can ask your guide to include them if you want more speed, or skip them if you prefer to stay at a walk.
