You solder your own ring in front of the tutor, watching exactly how it holds together.

A 2-hour jewellery class in Dublin where you make a hammered silver ring from scratch, cutting and shaping sterling silver, soldering it yourself under expert guidance, and choosing your own finish before taking it home. The workshop runs in the city center and welcomes ages 10 and up, with children under 16 accompanied by a paying adult. You'll work with hand tools—saw, mallet, files, planishing hammer—and decide on the texture and polish that make the ring yours.

The Experience

You start by marking your silver to the length of your chosen finger, then use a handsaw to cut it to size. The tutor walks you through forming the ring on a mandrel, using a mallet to shape it, and then solders it in front of you—explaining every step so you understand what's happening. This is not a demonstration you watch from a stool; you're handling the tools and making the decisions about how your ring takes shape.

Once the band is soldered, you file it smooth with hand files, then comes the part people talk about afterward: using a planishing hammer to add texture. You choose from three different finishes, each one changing how the ring looks and feels. The creativity here is real—the curve you file into it, the texture you hammer in, the polish you select at the end (rustic inside only, or fully glittery) all make it yours. The workshop is small and hands-on, held in a renovated studio on Georges Street in the heart of the city center.

The class runs about 2 hours and includes all the sterling silver you need, plus chocolate. Arrive on time—more than 10 minutes late means you won't be admitted. The building has stairs and no lift access, so keep that in mind. Children under 16 need to be with a paying adult, and the minimum age is 10. A live guide leads the class in English, and public transport stops are nearby if you're not walking from your hotel.

Is this one for you?Book this if you're coming with friends or family and want to make something together that you'll actually wear and remember the trip by—the small group size and hands-on setup mean everyone gets real attention from the tutor, and you walk out with a ring you made yourself, not a souvenir you bought.

What happens if I'm late to the workshop?

If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, you won't be permitted entry and are not entitled to a refund or reschedule, so plan to arrive with time to spare.

Yes, you keep your finished ring—it's the ultimate souvenir from your time in Dublin, and you get to choose how it looks before you leave.

Is this workshop suitable for children?

The workshop welcomes ages 10 and up; children under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult during the class.

What's included in the 2-hour class?

The class includes all the sterling silver for your ring, a live guide in English, and chocolate; you provide only your time and creativity.
