The Experience
You start at the ground floor of the Guinness Storehouse, standing at the base of the world's largest pint glass. It rises seven storeys through the building, and your local guide walks you past the copy of Arthur Guinness's 9,000-year brewery lease from 1759 before taking you up through the heritage exhibits. The skip-the-line access means you don't lose an hour at the entrance — you're already moving through the story of how this dark stout became what it is. At the top, in Gravity Bar, you get your complimentary pint and Dublin spreads out below you while your guide talks through the city's geography and some proper Irish humor.
After that, the tour shifts to whiskey. You walk the Whiskey Triangle — the historic district where Dublin's distilleries cluster — and stop outside the Brazen Head, the oldest pub in Ireland, dating back to the 11th century. Then you're inside Roe & Co, the distillery housed in the former Guinness Power House. A Master Whiskey Sommelier runs you through the Five Pillars of Flavour — sweet, sour, bitter, salty, umami — and you taste samples of Roe & Co whiskey while learning how the distillers blend and age it. You finish with a seasonal whiskey cocktail made by the bar team, and by then you've moved through three of Dublin's most-visited attractions without the queues that usually eat up half the day.
The whole thing runs about four to five hours with a local guide who knows the stories behind each stop. You're in a small group, so it doesn't feel like you're herded through. Fair warning: there's a lot of walking — cobblestones, hills, some stairs — and you need comfortable shoes. The tour serves alcohol throughout, so it's not for anyone under 18, and anyone with mobility issues should know the terrain isn't flat or smooth.
What’s included
Your tour includes skip-the-line entry to the Guinness Storehouse and Roe & Co Distillery, a complimentary pint of Guinness in Gravity Bar, full whiskey samples from Roe & Co, one seasonal whiskey cocktail created by the bar team, a guided walk through Dublin's Whiskey Triangle, and a photo stop at the Brazen Head pub. Your local English-speaking guide leads the entire experience and provides insights into Irish whiskey history, distillation, blending, and Dublin's brewing heritage.
