The Experience

The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary opens the day—a nature reserve where hundreds of Balinese long-tailed macaques live among ancient temples and stone statues scattered through the forest. You'll walk the winding pathways on your own pace, watching the monkeys in their habitat and capturing photos. The guide stays with you to point out behavior and explain the spiritual significance of the site, but the monkeys themselves set the rhythm.

From there, the tour moves to Tegalalang Rice Terrace, where the hillsides drop away in terraces of lush green paddies. These aren't just a view—they're part of the subak, an ancient Balinese irrigation system that has fed the island for centuries. You'll walk the narrow paths between the fields, and if you want the Bali Swing experience (a separate fee at checkout), the guide can arrange it here, with swings that hang over the jungle and rice valleys below. Lunch is also optional and can be added when you book.

Tirta Empul Temple comes next, a 10th-century complex built around holy spring water believed to have curative properties. The temple's stone carvings and shrines sit in lush greenery, and you can watch or join devotees bathing in the purification pools if you wish. The guide explains the rituals and the temple's history, but there's no pressure to participate. The final stop is Tibumana Waterfall, where water cascades down a cliff into a shallow pool. You can swim and relax here before the drive back. Before the waterfall, you'll also stop at Ubud Traditional Market, where vendors sell fresh produce, spices, handicrafts and souvenirs—useful if you want to pick up gifts for home.
