The experience

The day starts with pickup between 6 and 7am from your Ubud area hotel. You'll drive to Mengening temple (a water temple whose name means "stillness"), where you undertake a cleansing ritual designed to release what no longer serves you and welcome what moves you forward. Bring your own towel and swimwear. The ritual takes place in the water. After the temple, you return to Ubud for a full breakfast at a local restaurant before the second part of the experience begins.

Around 11am, the drive to the shaman's house takes roughly 30 minutes. This shaman sees almost no tourists because she doesn't speak English: your guide translates the entire session. She reads your palm, considers your birth date, and taps into what she perceives as your soul's energy to give you advice on moving forward in your life. The consultation is unhurried and completely personalized. Most groups finish and return to Ubud by 2pm, though timing depends on group size.
