Trivandrum sightseeing and cultural visit
- Visit rich historic temple
- Explore Kuthiramalika architecture
- See architectural masterpiece by Robert Chisholm
- Visit Thiruvananthapuram Zoo
- Relax at major Kerala beach
- Tour art museum with famous paintings
The experience
The day starts with a temple that ranks among the world's richest, followed by Kuthiramalika, a palace built in the 1840s with the sloping roofs, carved wooden ceilings and enclosed courtyards typical of traditional Kerala design. Each room carries its own intricate pattern. The route then passes a colonial masterpiece completed in 1880 by Robert Chisholm, the consulting architect of the Madras Government, and moves on to Thiruvananthapuram Zoo before reaching one of Kerala's major beaches.
Private transportation picks you up and carries the group through the day. Lunch is included. The guide speaks English or Hindi and can explain the history and architecture as you move between stops. Because entry fees are not covered, you decide which sites to enter and which to pass, and the zoo is closed Mondays. The museum (which holds works by Raja Ravi Varma and Rabindranath Tagore among others) also closes Mondays.
