The experience

The day starts at the main entrance to the Western temples, where your guide meets you with context before the walk begins. Matangeswara Mahadev temple comes first (an active temple dedicated to Lord Shiva where worship still happens), then you move into the Western group itself, a cluster of 11 temples that form a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your guide walks you through the architecture, history and details of temples like Kandariya Mahadev, known for its architectural precision, Laxmana temple, Devi Jagadamba temple and others, explaining what makes these temples different from a spiritual standpoint and what the carvings and layouts reveal about Indian culture and tradition.

After the main temples, you switch to either a bicycle or a tuk-tuk (your choice, both included) to reach the Jain temples (Adinath, Shantinath and Parsvanath), where the guide shows you a different religious tradition and its sacred spaces.
